Self Reflection

Overall, I am proud of the editing work I have done during this task and proud of the skills I have learnt along the way. This includes directing, planning and set-building.
Before this task, despite feeling comfortable with editing various clips, my skills were minimal and fairly limited in terms of effects. However, filming and editing this video enabled me to build upon my knowledge of both physical and edited effects. For example, using a pair of kaleidoscope glasses in order to create the colourful kaleidoscopic imagery we relied on as our main point of synergy and branding - additionally, when creating the shot in which Phoebe withdraws her hand from "inside" the television, we needed a light set up somewhere either on or below the television in order to create the illusion of a switched on television. As we were working in my own house with no professional lights or equipment, we came up with the idea to balance the torch from one of our phones on top of a VHS tape sticking out from underneath the television. This gave us the desired lighting and was placed specifically so the camera would not catch the actual phone itself - I am proud of myself for thinking of this as it enabled us to get one of my personal favourite shots of the whole video, and utilised our quick-thinking skills.

While I am mostly proud of the work I did during this task, I know that I could have handled my time a lot better - completing blog work on time proved harder than I thought, as I spent most lessons editing. Additionally, I had the task of creating the digipak, which Phoebe often had to remind me to complete. While I am pleased with the end result, I could've been more efficient in making it.

If I could do it again I would definitely try and keep more organised in terms of blog posts and time, and make more lists to remind myself of upcoming tasks to be completed.
